Brief overview
Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) is an authentication method that requires the user to provide two or more verification factors to gain access to a resource such as an application, online account, or a VPN. MFA is a core component of a strong identity and access management (IAM) policy. Rather than just asking for a username and password, MFA requires one or more additional verification factors, which decreases the likelihood of a successful cyber attack.
Detailed Steps
Enrolling in Multi-Factor Authentication
On your computer, open a web browser and go to https://aka.ms/mfasetup.
This will prompt you to log in to your Parametrix account, then prompt you to use Multi-Factor Authentication if you have set it up previously on another device. If you do not have access to the app on your old device, click “I can’t use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now” to use a different sign-in method.

If you do not have other forms of verification, let your IT team know, and they can help you out.
Then, after signing in, choose “Add sign-in Method”

In the drop-down menu that appears, choose “Authenticator App”, then click next.

It will ask you to download the Authenticator app. Once you have done so, click next.

Then, on your Authenticator app, choose Add a Work or School Account. If you have other accounts already added, you may need to press the + button in the top right hand corner, then select Work or School Account. Then click next on your computer to pull up the QR code to scan from your app.

The QR code should look something like this:

Once you have scanned the code, it will take you back to the Authenticator app where you’ll see Parametrix and a random six digit code. You can ignore this and click next on your computer.
You should now receive a test prompt on your phone to Approve or Deny. Tap approve and voila! You’re now set up with Microsoft Authenticator.
